On this page you can download and read all the results from the World Cup 2008. This World Cup is been held on the Pitch&Putt Golf Course of Papendal, Holland. Each day we will try to provide you with new information and results.
Saturday (18-10-08)
Ireland has won the World Cup!!
The finals have been played. Ireland won their matches against Holland. After the first single and double foursome, Ireland took the lead in the final with 1,5/0,5. They won the single with 5-4 and played A/S in the foursome. In the three single matches Ireland was to strong for Holland. First Patrick Luning lost to Derek Courtney with 1 down, Paul O´Brien continued his fantastic play and won with 5&3. The last match was between Hollands all-time best, Rolf Kwant and Ireland all-time best, Ray Murphy. They played a very exiting game and halved their match in style. For place 3/4, England and Catalonia were A/S at 1/1 after their first single and double foursome. In the singles Catalonia won all their matches. So the top three of the World Cup 08 is:

2. Holland
3. Catalonia

Friday (17-10-08)
The quarter finals have been played. Ireland, Holland, Catalonia and Great Britain will play the semi finals. The first round in in group 1 and group 2 is also played. Look for scores below. At the non-seeded teams Norway and Italy won their first match. Both semi finals have been played. Holland won from Catalonia with an overwhelming score of 4,5-0,5. The other finalist is Ireland, they won their match against England with 3,5-1,5. So tommorows final will be Ireland - Holland.

Thursday (16-10-08)

The Irish take the lead after two round of strokeplay, they managed to play -27 (243) over 5 rounds. Holland is closely following by 4 strokes (247). Third is Catalonia with 252 strokes over 5 rounds of strokeplay. Patrick Luning of Holland wins the individual part of the WC with a score of 93 over 36 holes (-15). Raymond Murphy finised second with a score of 97 strokes (-11), Aussie James Rogerson completes the podium with a score of 98 (-10). Both total team and individual results can be downloaded below. Wednesday (15-10-08)
Today the AM-AM tournament was played by several players of the competing countries with amateurs and businesspartners. After this tournament the Opening Ceremony took place in the big 'Athene Hall'. Part of this ceremony was the draw for the strokeplay matches of thursday. The draw was made by President of the FIPPA, Mister Mervyn Cooney and Hans Gräler President of the NPPB.
